One of the leading centers for research in economics, whose overall rank according to biometric studies (publications, citations) usually puts it in the top-3 league in Europe, field wise ranked number 1 in the world in the economics of incentives and number 1 in Europe in industrial organization, in environmental economics, in business economics, and in public economics; as well as leading top-level groups in finance and macroeconomics.
With a twenty-year tradition of policy relevant work, TSE is a leader in the transfer of modern economic tools to public and private decision makers. TSE researchers have shaped the debate on numerous key strategic issues for companies, helping them to formulate their business models, providing both firms and regulators with a better understanding of competition policy, and suggesting innovative policy response on current key topics, such as climate change or the financial crisis.
The foundation supports research through several initiatives. It offers Senior and Junior Chairs to attract renowned and promising researchers. It also encourages publications in the best international scientific journals and strengthen the doctoral programme (international scholarships). A program of seed-funding in order to finance promising research projects and a merit-based publication prizes and outstanding vitae awards program have been implemented.
